Characteristics
§ 1. Establishments must be equipped with extinguishing means such as :
- portable extinguishers
- wheeled extinguishers
- fire buckets and pump buckets, to enable staff and the public to intervene in the event of an outbreak of fire.
§ 2 The extinguisher must be clearly marked with at least:
- the class or classes of fire (A, B, C, D, F) it is designed to extinguish, preceded by their extinguishing capacity in figures;
- pictograms indicating how to use it;
- any dangers and restrictions on use.
§ 3 An extinguisher must be easy to handle and have a minimum capacity of six liters for water extinguishers. To make them easier to locate for both staff and the public, they must be red in color. Its effectiveness must be demonstrated by a test carried out by a specialized independent laboratory.
§ 4. A fire extinguisher must be checked annually and overhauled every ten years by a competent person or organization. The extinguisher must be marked with a clearly identifiable label affixed by the person or organization who carried out the inspection. The years and months of the checks must appear on the label.
A fire extinguisher layout plan and a record of checks must be entered in the safety register.
Location
§ 1 Extinguishing equipment should preferably be located in visible and easily accessible places in the passageways. They may be protected provided they are clearly marked. They must not impede the movement of people, and their location, identified by durable signage, must be such that their effectiveness is not compromised by any temperature variations occurring in the establishment.
§ 2. Portable fire extinguishers must be judiciously distributed and appropriate to the risks, particularly electrical risks, which they are intended to combat. There is a minimum of one appliance per 200 m² and per level, with a minimum of two per establishment. They must be attached to a fixed element, with durable signage, and with the carrying handle no higher than 1.20 m from the floor.

§ 1 Establishments must be equipped with at least one portable fire extinguisher installed in accordance with the conditions defined by article MS 39 and in mitigation of this article, with a minimum of one appliance per 300 square meters and one appliance per level.
§ 2 Dry staircases must be installed in protected staircases in establishments where the highest floor is more than 18 meters above the level of the road accessible to fire-fighting equipment.
§ 3 When an extinguishing appliance or device is not visible, it must be indicated by a sign conforming to the standardized signs indicating the location of fire-fighting equipment or another means of alarm or warning defined in standard NF X 08-003 relating to safety colors and signs.
Article GH 51
Fire-fighting equipment
§ 1. Portable fire extinguishers appropriate to the risks involved, and complying with the provisions of articles MS 38 and MS 39 of the safety regulations for establishments open to the public, are installed near stairway access points and, where applicable, near intercommunication points between compartments.
They are also installed on all levels of buildings, close to access points to premises presenting particular fire hazards.
6-liter water-spray extinguishers are judiciously distributed, with a minimum of one per 200 m² and a minimum of two per compartment and per level.

Fire extinguishers
Portable water-spray fire extinguishers of at least 6 liters in capacity are installed in such a way as to meet the following conditions:
- they are judiciously distributed;
- there is a minimum of one unit for every 200 m², so that the maximum distance to reach a unit does not exceed 15 meters;
- a fire extinguisher is placed close to the crossing devices between two sub-compartments.
Fire extinguishers appropriate for particular risks complete this system.

Emergency resources and radio communications
The following fire-fighting equipment is available:
§ 1. a) Portable 6-kilogram or 6-liter fire extinguishers appropriate to the risks; the operator may opt for one or other of the following formulas :
- or place one device on each level, at each exit, and ten additional devices near the security station or operating room;
- or distribute the units judiciously, with one for every fifteen vehicles;
b) A 100-litre box of loose sand for each level, equipped with a shovel, placed near each ramp.

Emergency equipment
In addition to article PS 29, § 1. a) portable fire extinguishers are distributed at a rate of one for every four vehicles.
In addition to article PS 29, § 2, the facility is equipped with a sprinkler system, except in the case of a widely-ventilated parking lot.
