Maintenance
emergency lighting
Emergency lighting is essential to ensure the safety of occupants in the event of an emergency, such as a fire. Emergency lighting makes it possible to evacuate people safely and easily to the outside, as well as to carry out safety maneuvers and rescue operations, when normal or replacement lighting fails. We maintain and regularly check your devices (evacuation emergency lighting units, LSC, BAEH, ambient emergency lighting units) to ensure they are always in perfect working order and comply with regulations.
What are the regulatory checks for emergency lighting (BAES, LSC)?
To comply with regulations, the operator must periodically ensure :
Monthly inspection of emergency lighting units
- Check that safety lamps on BAES and LSC are working properly.
- Check that the remote control is working properly when the normal lighting is voluntarily switched off.
- Check that units automatically return to standby mode when normal lighting is switched back on.
Half-yearly check
Once every six months, check the operating time of your emergency lighting: at least one hour for emergency lighting units and five hours for emergency lighting units.
These operations can be carried out automatically using self-contained lighting units with an integrated automatic test system (SATI), but must be supervised and carried out by a competent technician. The results of these checks must be recorded in the safety register.
Annual verification
Annual maintenance operations are defined by standard NF C 71-830, which sets out the requirements for the maintenance of self-contained emergency lighting units.
A trained technician carries out full maintenance on BAES, based on 13 checkpoints:
- Check the location, visibility and external condition of self-contained lighting units.
- Check lamps, battery, indicator lights, status of standby remote control, general cleaning of unit,
- Affix a maintenance label to the visible part of the device, issue a verification report and record the work performed in the safety register.
