"Standardized smoke detectors
" Art.L. 129-8-The occupant of a dwelling, whether tenant or owner, must install at least one standardized smoke detector. They must ensure that this device is maintained and in good working order.
"This obligation is incumbent on the non-occupant owner, under conditions defined by decree by the Conseil d'Etat, particularly for seasonal rentals, homes, company housing and furnished rentals. This decree also sets out the safety measures to be implemented by owners in the common areas of buildings to prevent the risk of fire.
"The occupant of the dwelling must notify the insurer with whom he or she has a contract covering fire damage of this installation.
" Art.L. 129-9-A decree issued by the Conseil d'Etat defines the application of article L. 129-8, in particular the technical characteristics of standardized smoke detectors and the conditions for their installation, maintenance and operation.
